Choreography

Artist Statement

In a world that is increasingly isolated and divided, it feels increasingly important to find connection and engagement with each other. Art acts as a unifier and a bridge to translate that which we cannot say with just words, thus bonding all who interact with it. It can sometimes feel like artists exist in a bubble, even from each other. I strive to bring that unity and bridge into my choreographic process; by building community from the start among a creative team, that cohered connection will yield stronger impact when shared.

(t)here (2026)

This loss follows me from there to here. It latches on, weighs me down, accuses me. I see people trying to be there for me, I am told it is not my fault, and I am told there is no one to condemn. But if there is truly nothing to forgive and no one to blame, then why is it still here, and how do I move on from there? Drawing from the lived experience of my own mothers, this duet takes the seven stages of grief into the context of two women, one of which has just received the news of a failed pregnancy.

Delusional? (2025)

Using real audio clips from the media in the score, this solo explores the daily barrage of words and actions taken against the transgender community and takes the affects of those to an individual level. The fear over what will happen next to harm this community is not new, but that fear is experiencing a new surge. Continuing through one’s day while navigating extreme uncertainty for one’s safety can have debilitating power, despite the desire to remain grounded and unwavering in the face of loved ones, coworkers, and strangers.

Finders Keepers (2024)

What If (2023)

Life is a series of choices. How do the choices we make impact ourselves, the people around us, and our environment? We make an infinite amount of choices for our own paths in life, but we can also make choices, many times unknowingly, that decide paths for other people. Choice dictates the outcome of all details in life; relationships, success, authenticity, etc. But what if we could see the outcome of our choices before we make them? If we are in a garden, and each choice we make starts us down a new path, what if we could see through the foliage and see us walking down another path? Our choices are fixed (to an extent), but if you had the ability to cut through the garden and walk on the other path, would you? Would others choose to let you?
